  • Was a great show

I used to really enjoy SpaceTime and was a listener from it inception; however, lately it seems like I am listening to a conspiracy podcast.

Happy to hear theories about COVID and social media bans but do not represent your beliefs as facts as they a not.

  • I struggle with this…

Stuart Gary appears to be a decent enough host but (for the podcast version at least) being reminded every 10 seconds that you are listening to “SPACETIME” makes it almost unlistenable after awhile.

Also what is it with the sceptic guy? What on Earth (pun intended) is he doing on this podcast? Having a completely closed mind is not in any way part of the scientific method, in fact it is the complete opposite! If our ancestors were all like him we’d have never made it out of the oceans!

  • The inflection…

I want to listen to and love this podcast but between the incessantly repetitive, predictable yet still unbearable inflection in this man’s voice does not work for me. The commercials, also, are atrocious and loud. I know. I can skip but it rocks ya. If this host is real, I don’t understand how they can’t hear it and fix it.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Vortices of the Sun and the First Gravitational Waves from Black Hole Mergers: A Cosmic Breakthrough
Q: Now this particular black hole merger you were looking at, GW250114, how far away was it?
The event was roughly 1.3 billion light years away, making it one of the more distant yet clearly detectable mergers, which helps enable high signal-to-noise tests of horizon physics.
LHS 1140b and the Quest for Habitable Atmospheres: Unveiling a Super Earth
Q: What makes LHS 1140b a compelling target for atmospheric study compared to other rocky exoplanets?
Its position in the habitable zone, surprising presence of helium in the atmosphere, and the star's relatively quiet flare activity together suggest a potential for a stable atmosphere that could persist long enough to test habitability hypotheses.
Exploring the Earliest Galaxy, Unraveling Muon Secrets, and Meteoric Wonders Over Sydney
Q: What are you hoping to find beyond the Standard Model, if anything?
Researchers discuss axions and dark photons as leading candidates, with ongoing work exploring how such new particles could reconcile discrepancies in muon measurements and collider data.
Galactic Black Hole Eruptions, Snowball Earth Theories, and the Impact of SkyMapper
Q: How does the Snowball Earth model differ from a single unbroken global ice state?
The model suggests the planet oscillated between fully ice-covered and warmer, ice-free intervals during the Sturdean period due to cycling of volcanic CO2 and weathering processes, rather than remaining in a continuous snowball state for tens of millions of years.
Galactic Black Hole Eruptions, Snowball Earth Theories, and the Impact of SkyMapper
Q: What is Sky Mapper's contribution to finding high-redshift quasars compared to other surveys?
Sky Mapper pushes deeper into the southern skies and, when combined with follow-up spectroscopy, helps weed out foreground stars, enabling a cleaner census of bright quasars and better tracing of early black hole growth.
