Join the Rev. Jacob Smith and the Rev. Aaron Zimmerman each week as they break down the lectionary texts for the coming Sunday with Gospel insight, a few (in)appropriate cultural references, and a heart for the sufferer in the pew—and the pulpit. All in a half an hour or so. Lectionary readings here: www.lectionarypage.net/. Audio production by TJ Hester

Love these guys! I am a retired preacher, but I wish I had had this when I was active in ministry. Nevertheless, now it provides me with a weekly gospel nugget. For which I am extremely grateful.
For folks whose faith traditions use the Common Lectionary this podcast provides insights to the weekly readings. Revs. Jacob Smith & Aaron Zimmerman help the listeners glean ways to understand the passages and how to apply them in the world in which we live. While, geared toward pastors who may be using the texts for sermons, it is helpful to lay people like myself.
I LOVE the sounds of NY City and Jacobus’ office chair - they add atmosphere and make listening seem more like I’m actually in a living room listening to a couple dudes talk about Jesus- please don’t change- Thanks for all the Good News
I look forward to listening to the podcast every week. I enjoy the banter between Aaron and Jacob who reveal their humanity and especially our own. My only request is to pace the discussion of the pericopes. I love hearing the background of the OT reading but I really need further discussion, etc., of the Gospel reading.
This podcast has quickly become my favorite for sermon prep. I share it with all my pastor friends. But even if you aren’t a preacher, there are helpful nuggets to find which can help you understand the gospel readings or one of the texts not preached about in your own church that week.
My only complaint is that I get a panic attack about once an episode while I’m driving and sirens go off in Jacob Smiths audio. Is there a go-fund me we can contribute to to get Jacob a sound booth?
