I liked it. It's not perfect, the production is a bit poor, but the music is excellent, some actors are good (I liked Prof. Savant and the narrator), some others are not that great (the female lead has a lot of exposition dumps to deliver but is energetic and charismatic enough, the other female character is not good and I can barely understand what she says), but the two main characters are adorable together and the story is compelling (even though some plot developments feel a bit rushed, espe... more
If you’re looking for a story to listen to and you want the acting to sound like they all came straight out of an episode of Blue’s Clues, then this is it. The acting and narrating is extremely amateurish. There’s a person heavily narrating the story but also plays a character in the story at the same time. If I wanted an audio book, I would have listened to one. On top of that, there’s these random lengthy pauses with an instrumental song; a very unnecessary addition to the episodes. An in... more
Yeah pass. Don’t bother
Boring and sexist.
Boring and sexist.
I’ve binged dozens of audio dramas and Sage and Savant is still my favorite. In fact, I would say this story is one of the best stories I’ve ever been exposed to.
The production is super fun, the pacing immaculate, the characters are complex and beautiful, and the story is funny, heart-warming, uniquely interesting, and exceptionally thrilling.
My favorite season is season 3 during which I binged multiple episodes a day. I would love to tell you my favorite parts but I don’t want to spoil it. ... more
Excellent good fun! Eddie is a splendid writer, and Chip makes amazing foley/music as well as the voice work.
Great sci-fi story, run along lines I'd of never thought. Some added voices would be great, but even with the limited cast, extremely entertaining.
Sage and Savant has finally ended after 4 seasons of intricate steampunk, mind jumping, time travelling, science building. I don't think I've listened to another audio drama that developed its rules so systematically, with the experiments and discoveries building upon each other in a logical fashion, to get that feeling of surprising but inevitable. This paired with Sage's compelling journey into mad scientist-dom, makes this show an all time great in my book.
If you haven’t listened to The Takes of Sage and Savant, I envy you ... you have some great listening ahead of you!
Dip your toe into the first couple of episodes, get comfortable with the Steam Punky, (slightly) alternate universe and follow along with the adventures of a (slightly) mad scientist who, apart from also being female, happens to be a feisty bundle of trouble for those male academics who choose to hold onto outdated gender models.
I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the adventures... more
I just binged the entire thing, and it's incredible! Time travel and mad science, mixed with historical fiction.
And even though it takes place in an alternate world from our own, all of the relationships and struggles of the characters are extremely relatable and heartfelt. I absolutely started crying, and have laughed out loud too, so it really runs the gambit when it comes to emotion.
Everybody should listen to this show! <3
This! Show! Is! AMAZING!! Eddie's writing is smart, witty and always on point. Chip's music and audio editing is professional and perfect. The acting is all around exquisite, and this time-traveling story of life, love and death is full of suspense, joy, heart break and adventure!
Dr Sage is a trail blazing scientist during the turn of the 19th century.
Without too much spoilers she discovers and perfects transmigration, sending her consciousness hurtling into the past and future. Taking her best friend and confidant with her, Dr Sage and savant discover the secrets of the past and venture into the far future.
There are mysteries, dangers, plots and secret societies and it is one hell of an adventure. It will make you laugh and cry in equal measures and I cannot recom... more
One of the smartest podcasts I know, this intricately created, beautifully paced show is just elegant in its construction and enormous fun to listen to. You'll learn stuff, but in that fun way that makes you feel smart. And the connection between the main characters is compelling and heartbreaking and utterly real. Do not miss out on this one.
A fascinating and fast-paced adventure that follows a female mad scientist and her partner as they time travel or "transmigrate" through history. There's nothing like this in the audio drama space! Great acting and production.
