  • Is this recorded in a phone booth?

Some interesting content, but the audio quality doesn’t speak to a technology themed podcast

  • Good content, awful production

Listened to the Equifax Breach episode. Good content, but the volume disparity between the interviewer and interviewee is unbelievable. At max volume on my iPhone and headphones the interviewer is borderline unintelligible, while the interviewee is painfully loud. It also sounds like his voice is clipping/distorting when he gets excited. This is very basic audio production - I expected much better from something as big as RSAC.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Cyber at the Top: Beyond Confidentiality: The New Priorities in Information Security
Q: What one piece of advice would you offer security leaders adapting this broader view of information security?
Identify crown jewels and key services, assume disruption, rehearse recovery, and practice continually. It's about testing resilience, not just writing a plan, to ensure rapid restoration of critical systems and services when incidents occur.
Cyber at the Top: Beyond Confidentiality: The New Priorities in Information Security
Q: What role do technology advances like cloud, automation, and AI play in improving or challenging integrity and availability?
These technologies are enablers that can enhance availability, visibility, and anomaly detection, but they also introduce new risks such as misconfigurations and the potential for agentic AI to cause real damage if not properly controlled. Proper governance and careful implementation are essential.
Cyber at the Top: Beyond Confidentiality: The New Priorities in Information Security
Q: How should organizations measure success in integrity and availability beyond traditional data protection metrics?
Organizations should measure by asking what happens if data is wrong or if a system isn't available, and focus on resilience metrics and breach readiness. This includes protecting crown jewels, building a playbook, and rehearsing responses so operations can continue during disruptions.
Cyber at the Top: Beyond Confidentiality: The New Priorities in Information Security
Q: What's driving the shift toward prioritizing integrity and availability alongside confidentiality?
Digitalization, the convergence of IT and OT, and heavy dependence on connected systems have made availability and integrity critical for business operations, not just data protection. Real-world outages and the growing risk of systemic disruption underscore the need to balance all three pillars.
What Cybersecurity Professionals Need to Know about Legal and Regulatory Developments: A World Tour
Q: What is the dominant regulatory direction in the coming years, especially regarding high-risk AI and data handling?
Regulations are increasingly focused on integrity, with a move toward product-level accountability and verified compliance, as opposed to only organizational governance, requiring robust logging, verifiable training data, and auditable processes.
