I’ve always loved AR and really respect his takes, opinion and yes, his love of animals and community engagement. While Matty is still young and needs a bit more travel and life experience to truly land with his takes and attempts at Gen Z street lingo hipness, I’m an avid listener and view this to be among the top two must listen shows on The Fan in Cbus. Great guests, stories, pop culture references and some timely reactions to real-life events and topics.
These two work great together. You wouldn’t be able to tell that Matt used to be a producer. He delivers his takes with confidence and energy. He also represents young people in a way that isn’t represented the same on other shows. Anthony doesn’t miss on a take either. His story-telling is great and I quite enjoy his movie references. Both guys are easy to like.
Love the show, and I’ve always loved Roth since his days hosting The Buckeye Fever. Want to like Matty and at times I do, but his cluelessness about movie classics is dumbfounding. Also him not being a true homer and having favorite squads that aren’t in Ohio doesn’t fit. His takes are also borderlined at times and make no sense. His knowledge is also lacking in a lot of areas and it shows often as he stumbles over himself.
I listen to the fan only by podcast and recently stopped listening to the children on at 3-6. I couldn’t take anymore of the high school level humor. Rothman is the most professional and entertaining host at the fan. I like Matt too but he really needs to stop eating almonds during breaks. When they come back, he’s constantly making gross sounds, choking, etc. Kind of unprofessional. Matt, listen to your mother please!
Long time listener. Awesome show.

High-energy, long-form sports conversation focused on Ohio-focused and national football, with frequent forays into baseball, NBA, and pop culture. Across recent episodes, the hosts balance deep Buckeye football context, in-season and off-season NFL analysis, and occasional guest insights from ESPN analysts and local reporters. The tone blends banter, guest-driven insight, live calls, and lighthearted segments, often exploring NIL, roster dynamics, coaching decisions, and the business of sports. Noteworthy is a strong regional flavor rooted in Ohio State lore, combined with wide-ranging pro and college football coverage and a knack for pairing insider analysis with entertaining storytelling.
