Roam Schooled is a show where I conduct in-depth, in-person investigations into topics chosen by a child (one of my 6-year-old twin daughters). We go out in our 1991 Winnebago and talk to people, in person. One question typically leads us to another question and away we go... It's a show about the pleasure of finding things out. more

We remember the lies we tell. Sometimes they stick with us for a lifetime. For guest Cheryl Strayed, lies were among the baggage that blocked her happiness until a long backpacking trip afforded her the strength to bring them in to roost somewhere he... more
We asked hundreds of people about how they encounter the animals they may (or may not) eat. So many conversations, all over the map. We chose these two: A farmer and a meat thinker. Meet Kyrie Eppley and Camas Davis. And be prepared for an "outside" ... more
In our Roams, we've met some people with widely varying concepts of home. Some, like Musonda, have taken an incredible journey to get there. The twists and turns in his story are, well, amazing. more
In this episode we unpack some of the parcels Santa might not want us to consider, including a conversation with the creator of “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” AND a rapper in Northern Canada who actually got run over by Rudolph. Not your run of... more
In this episode we take back “giving” - a term awash with holiday smarm. We dive deep into the nuance and complications of gifts and explore the nature of generosity with some listener stories and a case study: the “altruistic kidney donor”. You’ll n... more
We continue our look at the real relationship between the Fourth Estate and the People in PART 2. We interview a public figure (Governor Kate Brown), we go behind the scenes at the New York Times The Daily (Lisa Tobin, Podcast Creator), talk to an Ad... more

Dana and Vern, this podcast is amazing. Dana, thanks for introducing me to it. ❤️❤️ -Olive
I am a huge fan of this podcast. I learned something new every episode! The two little girls in this show impress me and I want more! Great show! Great listen! Great concept and please make more! Good job family
Arts and crafts for your brain. Recommended activity while listening: find a glue gun and some Q-tips and make something. I'm very picky when it comes to choosing what podcast I decide to get into and I fell in love with this podcast right away. I'm positive that the 6yr old on this podcast is smarter and more thoughtfuller than most of my friends. Hats off to the Dad! #thoughtfuller
I enjoy every episode and some more than others. Thank you to Jim and the girls for opening my mind to so many different things.
In a world where exchanges between people are prosaic or superficial, these episodes remind us of how even a simple topic can lead to fascinating places with time, quiet and an open (child-like) heart.
Love this show!
Love the Brunberg adventures and quests.
Roam Schooled is such a great idea. Starting with questions that Jim's young daughters have and actually talking to people and going places to check things out. These girls have great experiences with their Dad. It is not necessarily geared down to young kids either so all ages would enjoy the interesting subjects and hearing many sides of the different topics. Thanks Jim for the great podcasts.
