A weekly current affairs podcast featuring the editors & leadership of The American Conservative. The members of the TAC staff discuss the news of the day from a decidedly TAC perspective: one that is suspicious of big business as well as big government, and localist rather than globalist. Too much in the way of unserious, black-pilled, fatalistic doomerism and too much credulity with regard to simplistic conspiracy theories. More classically reminiscent of the political left than of the right in its emphasis on victimhood. Prone to oversimplification. Oftentimes more insightful on domestic politics, however, and the only reason I once listened.
Though personally I’m also a restrainer, many of the talking heads seem to conflate restraint with pacifism: One is reasonable, the oth... more
Thank the Lord, I was actually able to listen to these people. These non-interventionalists and isolationists will destroy this country. Venezuela has Iran, Hezbollah, China, and Russia in country actively planning against the United States. to be blind to that is to show fallacy in your ability to critically think. I am not a politician I’m an engineer, but wow, I hope these people never gain power.
The latest podcast had a member of Obamas cabinet, and they had 0 pushback! Harry Burger seems like Fuentes with a muzzle. Another review said they need Sohrab back! I second that motion!
This used to be a very good podcast to hear "The American Conservative" opinions. But recently, the team of podcasters are much weaker, in terms of presentation (sorry but that's important -- one of the new guys needs training on how to eliminate audible pauses) and content. The website is still interesting, but I don't plan on spending my time listening to this team talk.
The convos are interesting, but I struggle to listen since Sohrab and Helen left, since no one in the current cast is as articulate as those two were.
E.g. Jude says “ummmmm” every five words, the new guy keeps chuckling to himself, sumantra pronounces a lot of words strangely, etc.
I hate to leave a 3 star review but the discussion could seriously use more polish.

A weekly current affairs show from a conservative editorial team, focusing on U.S. and global politics through a nationalist, small-government lens. Episodes frequently scrutinize foreign policy, defense, and domestic governance, often weaving in expert guests and think-tank perspectives. The show is noted for its rigorous debate among hosts with a track record of strong, unapologetic conservative takes, and for spotlighting issues like U.S. intervention, energy policy, and national sovereignty. This mix tends to appeal to listeners who value principled restraint, skepticism of expansive government power, and Main Street-level conservatism, with a penchant for timely, issue-driven conversations and guest voices from defense, foreign policy,... more
