  • Conservative Alternative to Ezra Klein

Very good conversations between well read, thoughtful, and most importantly, honest brokers in our ongoing world of different opinions. Moves along in an entertaining way, really does address both sides, even if their preference is evident, which is par for the course after all.

  • Bunny vs Rock

Loved discussion from divergent viewpoints. Opened my conservative eyes in a positive way. Both offered thoughtful suggestions to try to wrest the culture back toward the middle.

  • Please, stop saying “like” every other word!

Chris Rufo is a stellar journalist & activist. I’ve long admired his work. He deserves a better cohost. Lomez sounds like a CA Valley girl who can’t stop inserting “like” in nearly every sentence. This is a very annoying colloquialism that detracts from the intelligence of the conversation. Chris Rufo’s commentary is diminished by it.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Army Ranger Vet: Why ‘Winning’ Iran Could Cost Everything | Ep 34
Q: What does success look like in the medium to long term, and what concrete steps would indicate progress toward that outcome?
Success would involve a combination of continued degradation of Iran's ability to threaten energy infrastructure, a diplomatic settlement on nuclear and missile programs, and a recalibration of regional power dynamics that prevents a costly expansion of the conflict.
Army Ranger Vet: Why ‘Winning’ Iran Could Cost Everything | Ep 34
Q: Two weeks from now, what should we be seeing to know things are moving in the right direction?
Indicators would include more consistent U.S. aircraft traffic to bases in the Gulf, degraded Iranian combat power, and a measurable shift in the balance of power toward disruption of Iranian capabilities without a full ground invasion.
Curt Mills: The Case Against the Iran War | Ep 31
Q: What are the first principles from a foreign policy perspective that are guiding your conclusions about Iran?
The guest argues that bellicose interventionism often fails to achieve lasting gains, and that policy should prioritize strategic restraint, risk assessment, and economic considerations, while acknowledging that some American interests exist in stability and non-proliferation, which may be better pursued through diplomacy, leverage, and allied diplomacy rather than ground incursions.
Why Democrats Are Fighting This State Dept Nominee | Interview w/ Jeremy Carl
Q: What does this process look like from the inside, including how you're instructed to answer and what you're told not to say?
Carl explains that nominees are advised to be boring and non-confrontational, to avoid giving opponents sound bites; he reflects that this approach can backfire when under extreme scrutiny and suggests a more assertive stance might have helped in some cases.
Why Democrats Are Fighting This State Dept Nominee | Interview w/ Jeremy Carl
Q: So Jeremy, tell us about this. What were you expecting? What happened? And where are we now?
Carl describes going through a confirmation hearing that was heavily scrutinized, with targeted critiques of his writings; he notes that administration guidance urged him to stay calm and avoid public arguments, while recognizing in hindsight that pushing back more might have been beneficial.
