  • Great

Big fan of this Podcast. So much so, my Bestie and I made the five hour trek to grab a pint (or two) and check this place out. It did not disappoint. Met Joel and had the bell run as a I ordered a 547. Not being an IPA guy, it was very good. Great experience and look forward to making another visit. My only regret, missing Gary by a couple of hours. Next time!

Mitch Steele of New Realm Brewing Wrote THE Book on IPA
Q: If you personally could choose or even just like if you have a sense of what could be the next big style that people would just that brewers are just really going to start kind of leaning into and messing around with?
I'm seeing hoppy loggers, you know, be it Italian pills or West Coast pills or, you know, these beers that are kind of a hybrid between an IPA and a lager. I suspect that'll be a legit style in Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup within a year or two.
Mitch Steele of New Realm Brewing Looks Back on 40 Years of Brewing
Q: What was the most difficult part of opening your own shop?
Mitch mentioned that the hardest part was naming the company, but he also highlighted challenges like getting permits, staying on budget, and selecting equipment.
Capturing Wild Yeast for Beer Brewing w/ Jody Cleaveland
Q: Have you had some successes with capturing wild yeast?
Yes, I've made a unique beer several times at Bare Bones using my captured yeast and it has worked each time.
Capturing Wild Yeast for Beer Brewing w/ Jody Cleaveland
Q: So how one goes from leaf on the ground to beer?
You make a very specific type of wort and you must ensure the correct pH to allow the yeast to grow without harmful bacteria.
Capturing Wild Yeast for Beer Brewing w/ Jody Cleaveland
Q: What would you say that is for you and Bare Bones?
For me and Bare Bones, it would be Oshkosh Lager, one of the things I brewed the most when I was home brewing.
