  • Great perspectives on software security

I like listening to these guys because they’re great at explaining technical topics in simple, relatable ways. Stan is the analogy master and I enjoy hearing him boil down a complex application security topic into a parable or metaphor. I also like how they start off every episode with some small talk about their lives. It’s very conversational and light, and it draws me in. Keep it up guys!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

AI and Zero-Day Exploits: A New Cybersecurity Threat? - #202
Q: What practical steps should organizations take in light of AI-enabled threats?
Reinforce fundamentals like patch management, strengthen identity security and access controls, implement defense in depth, and accelerate detection and response timelines to narrow the window attackers have.
AI and Zero-Day Exploits: A New Cybersecurity Threat? - #202
Q: What do you think about the idea that AI is a force multiplier for cybercrime?
AI accelerates research, tooling, and proof-of-concept development, letting lower-skill criminals access more powerful capabilities more quickly, but humans still drive the operations; the real risk is velocity rather than a sudden replacement of attackers by machines.
Containment or Catastrophe - #199
Q: What is the problem with the traditional prevention-first approach and why is containment now central?
The traditional model focused on building walls and preventing entry, but with cloud and AI accelerating attacker capabilities, breaches are not only more likely but spread faster; containment minimizes blast radius, making it the most effective way to limit damage when breaches occur.
AI Security and the Future of the SOC - #192
Q: What is the biggest misconception about AI security today?
The biggest misconception is that platform giants alone can solve AI security; true innovation is still driven by startups and smaller players who can move faster and tailor solutions to defenders' needs.
AI Security and the Future of the SOC - #192
Q: What should CISOs look for when evaluating AI-focused vendors?
CISOs should seek clear governance disclosures, transparent use of AI in processes, measurable value propositions, and evidence that the vendor can scale with their security operations while maintaining data practices.
