Red Light Exposé is an international grassroots survivor-led circle seeking to combat “sex work” ideology. We aim to raise awareness of the harms of commercializing sex, and the industries (prostitution, porn, stripping, BDSM/kink) that exploit socioeconomically marginalized people, particularly women and girls. We support the adoption of Equality Model legislation worldwide while calling for an i... more

  • Fantastic Show

This show has made me think differently, and opened my eyes to better arguments against the exploitation of women and girls. I’ve always been anti-sex-industry in all its forms, but didn’t always have the language to explain why. Now I do.

Thank you team for the amazing content! I’m a fan.

  • Exclusionary

It’s a shame, because “Red Light Exposé” could be an important & useful podcast if the hosts & guests were as interested in opposing sexual exploitation as they are in pushing a very narrow brand of leftist politics. I would have thought it best to build a broad coalition to work against sexual exploitation, in welcoming all to the cause, but the “R.L.E.” collective disagrees.

  • Difficult but essential discussions

This podcast really deconstructs the ways in which our culture fails women. But it’s great to hear how women can also change the world so it works better for them. We should finally move on from feminism as “emulating men” to feminism as “rearranging the world so it serves the interests of women”.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

HIV Prevention Research on Prostituted Women and the Gates Foundation with Yagmur Uygarkizi
Q: Before we move into the Gates/ Epstein discussion, why do ethics committees sometimes fail to stop these trials?
She argues that financial incentives, structural biases, and the normalization of prostitution as a public health issue allowed unethical research to persist despite oversight from UNAIDS, WHO, and ethics boards.
HIV Prevention Research on Prostituted Women and the Gates Foundation with Yagmur Uygarkizi
Q: PrEP is widely available today. How did we get here, and what were the early ethical concerns in those trials?
The guest traces PrEP development from initial spermicides to later pills, emphasizing how trials often targeted vulnerable populations in the Global South, with insufficient consent, follow-up, and consideration of who benefits from the outcomes.
HIV Prevention Research on Prostituted Women and the Gates Foundation with Yagmur Uygarkizi
Q: So Yagmur, can you tell listeners a little bit about yourself and what brought you to this mission?
Yagmur describes over a decade of research on prostitution, focusing on the violence and historical harms, and explains how clinical trials on prostituted women emerged as a disturbing facet of this history, prompting her to examine the ethical implications.
Women Are Commodified in Surrogacy Much Like In Prostitution with Kajsa Ekis Ekman
Q: What are the legal and ethical risks embedded in surrogate contracts?
Contracts often shift rights from the surrogate to buyers, restrict medical decisions like abortion, and even dictate life-support choices, which undermines the surrogate's autonomy and raises serious ethical concerns about commodifying children and women's bodies.
Women Are Commodified in Surrogacy Much Like In Prostitution with Kajsa Ekis Ekman
Q: How did surrogacy originate, and why does it feel fundamentally different from other methods of having children?
Surrogacy originated in modern times as a compensatory approach to infertility, evolving from traditional arrangements. It functions on an industrial scale, separating mothers from their babies and recasting pregnancy as a service to buyers, which challenges traditional notions of motherhood.
