Good when covering topics they know well or have direct experience with (transgenderism, radical feminism, far-left spaces). Quickly becomes derivative and overconfident when branching out. Speculative analysis is presented as authoritative, despite a lack of firsthand knowledge or reliable sources. The hosts often default to citing their Twitter feed as evidence.
This was my favorite podcast for like 3yrs. I even put up with their MAGA defense eps thinking “Well they just don’t really get American politics, I’ll skip those episodes.” The Elon Musk ep was completely unlistenable. Yet I continued.
Unfortunately, I’m at my limit. Jen in particular is insanely annoying. She’s made a full right-wing turn and the worst part is because I’m pretty sure she just reads X all day and believes it all. I can’t take listen to someone talk like they think they’re as c... more
(Repost with additions bc I think it got removed the first time) While yes, they do bring up some good points and start some great conversations, everything else is not so great which is a shame. They went so anti trans that they’re siding with Trump. I have lots of concerns about the trans community, but I’m not about to cut off my nose to spite my face. Their coverage of America and American politics is BAD (and yes, I thought this even before the election. It was much easier to brush off at t... more
I enjoyed the podcast at first but the sane washing Jen does of Trump is just too much. If you’re a republican gender critical who doesn’t care about women’s rights in America you’ll love this podcast
A fantastic podcast which captures so much thought and detail. The format works really well. It’s the insights that really matter though. Put down your Zizek (I’m kidding - you already did), drop the cavernously hollow Butlerism (US listeners only - no-one else was bothered), maybe don’t necessarily tear up your Labour Party card just yet - and learn from this.
