  • Privileged to be a guest

When Ned first asked me to join his podcast, I was super nervous. What do I know about being a dad? Ned instantly made me feel comfortable, and with his easygoing style and great wisdom (along with help from God through a lot of prayer), we had an amazing conversation that I think will encourage a lot of dads out there. I highly recommend this podcast!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 547 Garr Russell: Why Pain Is Your Kid's Best Teacher
Q: What would you tell a new dad stepping into fatherhood in two minutes?
Don't expect perfection; you will mess up, but show accountability, apologize when needed, and model that growth to your kids.
Ep. 547 Garr Russell: Why Pain Is Your Kid's Best Teacher
Q: What are the three things you want your kids to know when they're done with high school?
I want them to be aware of the hearts of people around them, to hear God's voice, and to have discernment so they can navigate information and make wise choices.
Ep. 547 Garr Russell: Why Pain Is Your Kid's Best Teacher
Q: First question out the gate, how old do you find yourself today?
I'm 47, but I feel 55, mainly because my feet hurt from nine days of restaurant work and training new staff.
Ep. 546 Blake Casteel: The Validation Your Kids Desperately Need From You
Q: So when did you embrace fatherhood? How did you come to believe your role as a dad matters deeply beyond just doing work for the Lord outside your home?
From day one, particularly after marrying a single mom and forming a deeper bond with his daughter, realizing the responsibility and impact of showing up as a father, not just a spiritual leader, and gradually making intentional changes over years.
Ep. 546 Blake Casteel: The Validation Your Kids Desperately Need From You
Q: One day, you're going to have six more kids if all your kids get married. So what kind of grandfather do you want to be?
Hope to be deeply involved, present, and engaged with future generations, maintaining humility and a focus on guiding with love and faith, while still learning and growing as a person and parent.
