Listing more con’s than pro’s, but the pro’s carry a lot of weight. Pro’s: - Incredibly thorough and well-versed, very clear and sharp answers. I know I can get a quality answer on most questions related to the magisterium, ecclesiology, theology, etc. - Right intentions. Con’s: - Sometimes bashes you over the head with logic. Not everything has to be attacked like a freight train. - Could steel man those he critiques a bit better, especially since he’s so thorough otherwise. It would be more in... more

Should change the show's name to reflect Lofton's true loves. Bad hasbara plus laughable popesplaining make this show a joke.

  • RadTrads Stay Mad

Michael “The Popesplainer” Lofton is the best defence against so-called “Traditionalists” pushing their neo-Protestantism on the internet today. If you’re getting the RadTrads mad, you’re clearly doing something right. Love the podcast, keep it up Michael.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Scott Horton: Is The Iran Nuclear Threat Real?
Q: Do you think the driving force behind shifts in American policy toward Iran has always been pressure from domestic political actors and allies in the region?
Yes, the guest argues that policy shifts are often driven by a combination of lobbying, regional power dynamics, and media framing, rather than a purely objective assessment of Iran's capabilities.
War With Iran Will Resume Without Congressional Approval
Q: Why is the president not seeking congressional authorization to extend it?
The host notes that it has never been done before and argues it is unconstitutional, framing the refusal to seek approval as a violation of law.
I Interviewed Israel’s Founder’s Grandson w/ Miko Peled
Q: What can listeners do to push for change in US policy toward Israel and Palestine?
Listeners should support nonviolent activism, engage in education and outreach, insist on accountability from elected officials, and participate in organized efforts like curriculum development and public events to expand awareness and political pressure.
I Interviewed Israel’s Founder’s Grandson w/ Miko Peled
Q: Can you tell me a little bit more about the West Bank and what's going on with the settlers there?
Peled explains that the West Bank and Gaza are effectively controlled in ways that marginalize Palestinians, with settlements expanding and Palestinians facing displacement, while noting the lack of adequate protection from authorities and highlighting the need for a concrete plan to safeguard Palestinian rights and a pathway to return for refugees.
I Quit Trump’s Religious Liberty Panel—Here’s Why w/ Sameerah Munshi
Q: Why did you decide to resign from the commission?
Because witness lists were blocked, I couldn't influence policy recommendations or executive orders, and because of hostile behavior toward Muslims and key colleagues; ultimately I felt it was impossible to make a difference there.
