  • Best podcast in Alberta, hands down

I’ve been listening to this podcast since day one and haven’t missed a show. Ryan (and Johnny) cover current events in Canada, especially in Alberta (their home province). They have guests on from all political stripes and with all sorts of opinions. It’s great to hear all perspectives from a show that is truly “Real Talk”. Sure they have their opinions but they don’t force them on the listener, they encourage people to keep an open mind and form their own opinions on a wide variety of topics, t... more

  • JESPO FOR PREMIER

Ryan, I truly hope you consider running for office one day. You are smart, thoughtful, level-headed, and deeply passionate—not only about Alberta, but about people. We need more leaders like you in politics to balance out the egomaniacs who chase office for power, ideology, money, or self-interest.

One of your greatest strengths is how naturally you can connect with anyone—always with respect, curiosity, empathy and sincerity. I started listening during the pandemic when I was still living in C... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Alberta Voices Urge “Lead Not Leave”
Q: How do the guests view Alberta's future in Confederation versus independence?
They generally emphasize constructive engagement within Canada, citing historical moments of cooperation, while acknowledging frustrations and exploring pragmatic steps—like an Alberta Pension Plan and stronger provincial autonomy—without rushing toward outright secession.
Alberta Voices Urge “Lead Not Leave”
Q: What is the primary goal of Lead Not Leave within the current Alberta context?
To present actionable policy ideas that strengthen Alberta while remaining part of Canada, counter the separatist rhetoric with data and constructive discussions, and mobilize civic engagement ahead of any potential referendum.
The Right Response to Separation
Q: What is the current mood among Albertans regarding secession and federalism according to Angus Reid polling?
The polling shows a divide: a significant segment leans pro-Canada, but there is a growing 30-35% segment leaning toward separatism, signaling a fragile balance that could tilt with political messaging.
Is Ottawa Selling Out Ranchers?
Q: What do Canadians need to know about Mercosur and Ottawa's negotiations?
Tyler Fulton explains that Mercosur wants full access to Canada's beef market, but raises concerns about production standards, food safety, and environmental practices. The goal is a strategic agreement that provides net benefits to Canada, not an open flood of lower-standard beef, which could distort prices and harm domestic producers.
Arlene Dickinson on Alberta Separation
Q: How do you view the role of a business leader in politics and public policy?
Business leaders should bring practical perspectives to policy, support democratic processes, and avoid partisan extremes, while using their platforms to promote thoughtful, balanced discussions on national issues.
