  • Best podcast in Alberta, hands down

I’ve been listening to this podcast since day one and haven’t missed a show. Ryan (and Johnny) cover current events in Canada, especially in Alberta (their home province). They have guests on from all political stripes and with all sorts of opinions. It’s great to hear all perspectives from a show that is truly “Real Talk”. Sure they have their opinions but they don’t force them on the listener, they encourage people to keep an open mind and form their own opinions on a wide variety of topics, t... more

  • JESPO FOR PREMIER

Ryan, I truly hope you consider running for office one day. You are smart, thoughtful, level-headed, and deeply passionate—not only about Alberta, but about people. We need more leaders like you in politics to balance out the egomaniacs who chase office for power, ideology, money, or self-interest.

One of your greatest strengths is how naturally you can connect with anyone—always with respect, curiosity, empathy and sincerity. I started listening during the pandemic when I was still living in C... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Poilievre's Plan to Keep Alberta in Canada
Q: What is Poilievre proposing for Alberta and how might it affect federal-provincial relations?
The hosts describe Poilievre's plan as urging Alberta to band with other provinces to pressure Ottawa on policy changes, aiming to unblock resources, defend provincial autonomy, and push for a stronger Alberta within a united Canada.
J.J. McCullough on B.C., Alberta, and Canada’s Future
Q: How do you assess Canada's approach to AI in health care and the role of government policy?
David Valentin discusses trust as central to AI strategy, emphasizes human oversight, warns about profit motives in health tech, and notes that education and sovereignty (Canadian data centers) are crucial to public acceptance and safety.
J.J. McCullough on B.C., Alberta, and Canada’s Future
Q: What are your thoughts on Alberta secession talk and its political viability?
The guest argues that separatism remains a minority position, largely a media narrative rather than a broad political force, and that most Albertans do not support it enough to elect representatives, though the talk remains a bargaining chip in negotiations with Ottawa.
J.J. McCullough on B.C., Alberta, and Canada’s Future
Q: Why do you think BC's leadership race mattered for national conservative politics?
JJ McCullough explains that the race highlighted a split between an Eastern-leaning, establishment approach and a Western, authentic conservatism, with the winner positioning herself as an outsider yet true to Western Canadian conservatism, which resonated with voters despite pushback to the old guard.
Calgary Mayor Jeromy Farkas // HOPE in Edmonton
Q: What is the expected impact of the rail plan on Calgary and Edmonton?
Farkas suggests a long-term, phased approach with consideration of subsidies and integration into existing infrastructure, aiming to connect major hubs like the airport and Banff while balancing investment with other priorities such as Green Line and urban mobility.
