  • Pronatalism

One of the worst cases of strawman arguments I’ve ever heard…..and I’m a Rothbard fan.

  • Ryan laughs too much

It's a good podcast, but the hosts don't seem very professional. Ryan goes "heh heh" way too often. If it were a personal podcast that would be fine (though still annoying), but if you're representing an organization (such as the Mises Institute), you should try to speak more professionally.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Does Economic Growth Require an Elastic Money Supply?
Q: How do banks benefit from an elastic money supply?
The banks primarily benefit through the ability to expand credit and maintain profits without the risk of going out of business due to competition, as the central bank allows for a coordinated increase in money supply which mitigates the threat of individual bank failures.
Does Economic Growth Require an Elastic Money Supply?
Q: What does the idea of elastic currency mean for economic growth?
The conversation posits that elastic currency is often viewed as necessary for economic growth, but a stable money supply can function effectively without constant expansion. Prices can adjust to accommodate changes in the economy, meaning a fixed supply of money can support growth without needing to inflate.
Inflation and Family Economics
Q: Tell us about the effects of financialization regarding economic inequality.
Financialization benefits early recipients of new money, leading to disparities that affect families and marriage markets negatively.
Inflation and Family Economics
Q: What are some of the ways that economic policy influences the demographics of the family?
Economic policies impact marriage rates, number of children, and household structures, especially as seen in statistics comparing 30-year-olds from the 1950s to today.
The Federal Reserve Is Covering Up Its Financial Losses
Q: What could be done?
The Federal Reserve could stop paying interest on reserves to eliminate losses, but this would lead banks to try to cash in their deposits.
