  • Volume/Voice Feedback

Great podcast with great topics! Only feedback (minor) is that the main host’s (Rachel) voice often trails off at the end of her sentences and on certain words which makes it hard to hear and I end up having to make frequent volume changes. Please encourage her to level out the intonation of her voice for an easier listening experience. Thanks for all you do!

  • Diluted value

Bloated delivery of industry truisms and corporate speak packaged as insight, constantly interrupted by the host’s pointless, agreeable interjections.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

[Encore] How Rush University Medical Center is closing the 'death gap'
Q: Omar, what are some of your favorite examples of the work that you've done or are doing next?
The laundry linen initiative stands out as symbolic of changing community outcomes; plus Sankofa Wellness Center and the local, vendor-driven approach to supply chains show how Rush integrates community investment with practical business models.
[Encore] Why all providers should be watching what’s happening in pediatrics
Q: What should organizations outside pediatrics watch regarding pediatric providers in 2026?
Non-PED hospitals should monitor how pediatrics responds to ABBA-related subsidies and Medicaid exposure, as pediatrics may lead in implementing smarter financial and administrative solutions that could become best practices for the broader system.
[Encore] Why all providers should be watching what’s happening in pediatrics
Q: How are pediatric hospitals doing right now as we enter 2026?
Their finances have weakened markedly from 2019, with margins dropping from the low double digits to around 1% in 2025, driven by higher labor and supply costs, a faster outpatient revenue ramp, and elevated bad debt, with 2026 likely to bring further headwinds.
308: How digital health innovation is centering the patient, with Rock Health
Q: How should incumbents think about their role in engaging with wearables and other consumer-generated data?
Wearables offer a path to proactive care, with significant clinician engagement, but real value comes from integrating meaningful data into the EHR and workflow, while addressing liability and reimbursement challenges. Health systems should consider building or partnering to create continuous, data-driven care models that connect wearables to the broader care pathway.
307: The oncology trends every healthcare leader should watch
Q: So I know these things are directionally true, but to start our conversation, can you help us put some shape to these trends?
Gaby explains that oncology is seeing sustained volume growth driven by aging populations and new therapies, while emphasizing the shift toward personalized care pathways and closer-to-home delivery as core priorities.
