We're Sean "Down Goes Brown" McIndoe of The Athletic and Ryan Lambert of EP Rinkside and this is a hockey podcast, in the sense that we talk about hockey, both on the ice and about fan culture. That's the "puck." This is also a podcast about movies, TV, fast food, life lessons and general idiocy. That's the "soup." Unless you ordered the minestrone.

Greg was great.
Ryan is the worst. That guy is insufferable. I’ll eat an old shoe before I give that clown money.

This is one of the few podcast I listen to that the two hosts aren’t trying to mock or put down each other. They’re actually nice and respectful to each other. The content is solid and full of useful stats.
Five stars.
When you quote stats that are completely out to lunch, and never come back to correct them, you get a bad review. Clearly you aren’t paying enough attention to what you’re talking about. You said panthers were 5/6 on the PP, and then backed it up again and said they are 84%… they had 11 power plays in game 3 alone. No mention of the reffing in the series either? Cmon

Two longtime hockey writers bring sharp, stats-minded analysis together with irreverent banter. Episodes typically blend market and game analysis—deadline talk, player movement, and team philosophies—with wide-ranging humor, pop culture breaks, and insider anecdotes. While heavy on NHL context, they also riff on media dynamics, fan culture, and occasional tangents about movies and life. A standout trait is the balance between rigorous, data-informed discussion and lively, self-aware humor, which keeps conversations engaging for both hardcore fans and casual listeners.
Noteworthy: the show consistently foregrounds analytics alongside anecdotal scouting and storytelling, and often riffs on sponsorships or light mock-serious takes on trades, ... more
