Good, clean, hockey fun! I unfortunately feel Ooolala Pierre, McGuire does not and never has rung the bell for me.

  • Too verbose!

With the full understanding this is a podcast where the host is expected to talk, I just wish Jeff would stop being so wordy and let things flow. He’ll spend 45 seconds saying the same thing 3 different ways with increasing complexity and it makes for a brutal listen sometimes. We don’t need all that, I know it’s not about ego, maybe he’s even organizing this thoughts for himself while he talks, but far too often it just ends up a ramble. Listen to his intro to the Babcock situation in this most... more

  • No one loves hockey more than Marek

Marek loves hockey. Not a specific team, not the nhl, just a pure love of the game itself. And his passion comes through in everything he talks about during the show. He’s changed the way that I’m a fan of the game and I’m thankful for it.

  • “PAUSE! PAUSE! PAUSE!”

This might be a good podcast, but I’ll never know because Jeff and Wysh won’t stop interrupting each other.

  • Not what he used to be!

Used to love Marek, but his frequent guests, particularly Wyshynski, are unlistenable, he’s horrible.

His last show is actually better without him.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Quinn Hughes’ Wild Future Remains Uncertain ft. Joe Smith & Evan Gold
Q: How sensitive are you about speaking publicly and staying within the line of what can be publicly discussed?
Gold described the balance of being informative without crossing lines, noting the high stakes of negotiations and the need to communicate effectively while not revealing strategic specifics.
What We Learned From the NHL Offseason & What’s Still to Come ft. Shayna Goldman
Q: But when you look back on this summer, which moment pops to mind first as the pivotal, quintessential moment of the hockey summer?
The offer sheet involving Leo Carlson and the cascade it created, reshaping how teams approach RFAs and the cap, stands out as the defining moment with ripple effects for Ducks and others.
Morgan Rielly's Future, NHL Expansion, Avoiding Offer Sheets, and More ft. Dan Rosen
Q: What are the prospects and challenges of expanding hockey into Europe, especially Germany?
Expansion into Europe is seen as inevitable but gradual; the focus is on developing stable ownership, sustainable economics, and letting European markets like Munich grow their hockey culture while ensuring the league's identity remains distinct rather than a direct transplant of the North American game.
Morgan Rielly's Future, NHL Expansion, Avoiding Offer Sheets, and More ft. Dan Rosen
Q: What is the current sense on Morgan Rielly's fit with the Maple Leafs and potential moves?
The panel discusses Rielly as a solid, but not elite, top-pair defenseman whose value depends on system fit; a fresh start could unlock his contribution, but it hinges on the Leafs retooling around him and finding the right defensive pairing.
Quinn Hughes Update + Which NHL Teams Could "Blow It" ft. Michael Russo & Greg Wyshynski
Q: Why is Minnesota a strong destination for Hughes even with a big price tag?
Minnesota is attractive due to ownership willingness to spend, a developing core around Boldy and Kaprizov, and the market's potential to become a long-term destination, though questions about cap space and needed center depth linger.
