  • The OG PT Podcast

This should be required listening for every PT. Develops excellent critical thinking skills. These guys helped me more than I can express in the first 5 years of my practice!

  • PT optimism

Erik and JW talk weather, English bus routes and dad jokes before finally conceding they have an article to review. The reviews themselves are a fantastic look at the science behind the science and tend to find one of several common shortfalls regarding the research design. Great mix of humour, education and nihilism. A must listen for people wanting to challenge their biases and look at the finer details of the research and how it applies to practice.

  • Incredible Podcast

Listening to these guys has improved my clinical practice immensely. They constantly force me to challenge my own biases and have helped me think much more critically when it comes to evaluating the PT literature. Envelope of function completely changed the way I treat. Thanks guys! 🙏🏼

  • Good thing they quit.

Recently suffered a meniscal tear. Turned to this podcast for some informative discussion on the topic. Instead I had to sit through ads and feckless banter. A waste of my time

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

390: Statistical Ratios
Q: How do we try to overcome that?
It's tricky, especially using ratios clinically versus in research, but controlling for covariates is generally a better option.
388: Dear New Physios
Q: What parameters or guidelines would need to be in place for a randomized controlled trial in high school populations?
The discussion highlighted numerous challenges including the need for large sample sizes and the difficulty in blinding athletes in such trials.
386: Hamstring Strains in American Football Live!
Q: Is there a difference whether it's knee angular or hip angular movements that contribute more to hamstring injuries?
It's a great question; both are happening relatively similarly during sprinting, but knee angular movement drives most of it.
386: Hamstring Strains in American Football Live!
Q: Do you think that is more important to consider when somebody is coming back from a hamstring injury, like exposure to, from 80% to 100%?
Yes and yes; exposure to max effort velocities is essential both in rehabilitation and for injury prevention.
386: Hamstring Strains in American Football Live!
Q: How did you decide to, how did you decide on the acronym?
The acronym HAMMER stands for Hamstring Injury Risk, and we had to pull letters to create a catchy name for the trial.
