  • The OG PT Podcast

This should be required listening for every PT. Develops excellent critical thinking skills. These guys helped me more than I can express in the first 5 years of my practice!

  • PT optimism

Erik and JW talk weather, English bus routes and dad jokes before finally conceding they have an article to review. The reviews themselves are a fantastic look at the science behind the science and tend to find one of several common shortfalls regarding the research design. Great mix of humour, education and nihilism. A must listen for people wanting to challenge their biases and look at the finer details of the research and how it applies to practice.

  • Incredible Podcast

Listening to these guys has improved my clinical practice immensely. They constantly force me to challenge my own biases and have helped me think much more critically when it comes to evaluating the PT literature. Envelope of function completely changed the way I treat. Thanks guys! 🙏🏼

  • Good thing they quit.

Recently suffered a meniscal tear. Turned to this podcast for some informative discussion on the topic. Instead I had to sit through ads and feckless banter. A waste of my time

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

441: Isometric Contraction Complexity and Variability
Q: What is the practical takeaway for clinicians choosing between pushing and holding isometrics in rehab?
Use pushing isometrics early for engagement and feedback-driven control; consider incorporating holding isometrics later for sustained force tasks and functional training, while ensuring patient safety and targeting the right intensity.
441: Isometric Contraction Complexity and Variability
Q: Why do you think visual feedback affected the complexity and variability of the pushing isometric task?
Visual feedback likely helped participants regulate and refine their force output more precisely, allowing them to explore multiple motor strategies while staying near the target, hence higher complexity with lower variability.
436: APTA CSM 2026 Live!
Q: What year did the Berlin Wall fall?
Chris prompted with the answer as 1989.
436: APTA CSM 2026 Live!
Q: Amit, what's the only mammal capable of true flight?
Amit answered that bats are the only mammals capable of true flight.
434: Foot Muscle Activation and Force During Exercise
Q: Can you explain the relationship between muscle activation and force output?
Muscle activation refers to how much the nerve stimulates the muscle, while force output is the actual force produced during movement; they do not always correlate.
