  • A lot of paper camp talk

About half the time, I feel like I'm getting a lot of value and learning a lot especially when Katie has guest speakers on. However, when it's just Katie, the advice feels vague and frequently circles back to "we cover this in Paper Camp." I understand the podcast is free and that Paper Camp is how she makes money, but there are episodes that end up feeling more like a 10 minute Paper Camp ad than a podcast episode.

433 | How to Navigate the Seasonality of Retail with Angie Chua, bobo design studio
Q: Tell everybody, tell the fine folks listening, like who you are about your businesses and what kind of products you sell.
Angie explains she is the founder of Bobo Design Studio, a travel-inspired stationary brand, and that she opened Bobo Palm Springs in 2021 to create a space that features work from women of color and queer artists, as well as Japanese imports and art supplies.
This is Strategy with Seth Godin [Replay]
Q: How should listeners approach iterating on their strategy when expanding to retailers or direct-to-consumer channels?
Begin with a strategy that prioritizes being talkable, continuously iterate on what makes people want to discuss you, and use early merchant feedback to adjust product-market fit and distribution before wider rollout.
This is Strategy with Seth Godin [Replay]
Q: Why is the smallest viable audience so important for growth, especially in the context of shelf space and direct-to-consumer strategies?
Because you can't reach everyone, so you must identify the handful of people who will become advocates and buyers, then grow from that core group through retention, word of mouth, and scalable iterations rather than chasing broad reach.
This is Strategy with Seth Godin [Replay]
Q: Tell us about the four key parts of an effective strategy and why each matters.
The four parts are systems, games, time, and empathy. Systems are the invisible structures around us; games provide a framework for strategic moves; time emphasizes how daily actions compound; and empathy ensures you build for others, not just yourself, by focusing on what the audience actually wants.
431 | Growing Wholesale Orders by 400% in Just 5 Months, Case Study with Brianna Reagan, Brianna Reagan Creates
Q: What would you tell someone who's on the fence about joining Paper Camp?
Brianna emphasized the value of the course, stating it was the one she completed and recouped her investment within four months.
