  • Highly recommended for all PrisonBreak fans / nostalgics

Great podcast, connecting (old and new) PrisonBreak fans with two beloved characters from the series. Sarah and Paul are doing a great job sharing behind the scenes, their personal insights and memories, and sometimes amazing guests (William F / Mahone, Paul T Scheuring, the writer/creator of this TV classic, Stacey Keach / the Warden etc). It makes me rewatch the show through a new lens and my morning work commute very enjoyable. Check it out and you won’t regret!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S3E5: "Interference" | Director Karen Gaviola: "The Prison Break Cast Cared About Their Show" |
Q: When you're directing an episode of a TV show like Prison Break, do you watch previous episodes to prepare? If so, which ones, how many? Does it change based on the show you're directing?
Karen explains she watches multiple relevant episodes to study tone, pacing, and the show's DNA, and emphasizes discussing favorites with the showrunner to align on expectations and avoid repeating past mistakes, while also keeping openness to new approaches where the material allows it.
S3E2: "Fire / Water" | "Why I Left Prison Break": Paul Scheuring Speaks Out | Is Michael MacGuyver?
Q: Was there ever pressure from Fox to extend the series beyond two seasons, and how did you handle that?
There was some pressure to continue after the pilot's success, but I preferred to frame a clear two-to-three season plan and left after Season 2, hoping the show would still thrive with new writers while preserving its original intent.
S3E2: "Fire / Water" | "Why I Left Prison Break": Paul Scheuring Speaks Out | Is Michael MacGuyver?
Q: How did the shift from two seasons to a potential three-season plan affect your writing and the overall arc?
It pushed us to map out a tighter, more forward-looking trajectory, ensuring that Season 2 ends with a platform for Season 3 while keeping the core premise intact, and I tried to maintain structural integrity by outlining acts and endings that could still feel complete.
(Re-release) Season 1 Wrap-Up With Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring
Q: Did you have a favorite character to write for?
You have to say T-Bag just because that lets your id come out; bad guys are just so much fun.
(Re-release) Season 1 Wrap-Up With Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring
Q: Did you boost anything from the set? Please tell me you have Bellic's cool leather jacket.
No, I don't have much, just a front page of a newspaper and a watch my girlfriend at the time owned.
