I love this podcast so much. It is true balance between scholarship and entertainment. Louis has great banter with his guests and expresses his opinion so well - I strive to have his vocabulary and nuance! My favorite digest of cultural criticism. I feel like listening to this podcast is feminist praxis lol.
When I used to commute to work by train, sometimes battling anxiety traveling alone, Pop Pantheon was always at the ready to listen to on the trip. I not only enjoyed and learned about music history from DJ Louie and many great guests (I find any opportunity to explain “poptimism” to ANYONE who will listen and see it as a critical way to discuss all pop culture), but found a safe head space when I needed it most. I support this podcast as well as I am able and hope it has many more years of crea... more
I’m thoroughly enjoying this podcast and its honest and thorough analysis of many pop artists. I’m obsessed with so many of the pop artists Louie talks about. Personal fave are Kylie, Robyn, Madonna, Charli, Brandy and Kim Petras to name a few.
DJ Louis displays his mad skills as a pop historian with an infectious voice, humor- filled hot takes, and a debatable ranking system.
Always enjoy the passionate deep-dive research that goes into showcasing the diversity of our most prominent artists.
Hopefully, the future will bring more episodes on historical pop figures. Perhaps some done on camera. But otherwise, it’s an informative auditory experience.
I discovered this podcast during the Britney series, and thank goodness I did. This is a fantastic podcast for pop culture stans. Louie is so knowledgeable and takes this seriously. Best thing to come out of 2025 so far for me!
