  • Disappointing start

Very disappointing start. I have no idea who anybody is, the style of presentation is boring and repetitive.

I had hoped to recommend this podcast to my large Facebook group but on this showing I would be embarrassed to recommend it

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A FRESH APPROACH TO PORTUGAL'S LEGAL LANDSCAPE.
Q: Rebecca, what are the most common legal questions people ask you before moving to Portugal?
Rebecca explains that people primarily want to understand when they become taxable in Portugal, the difference between automatic taxpayer status and deemed residency, and how visa status, registrations, and addresses affect tax obligations. She also notes that many assume simple rules but must plan for complex interactions between immigration, residency, and taxation.
Portuguese Nationality Law: What Has Changed, and What ApplicaNTS Should Know.
Q: What challenges do applicants face with AIMA and IRN, and how should they prepare?
Backlogs and staffing shortages at IRN and AIMA cause delays in card issuance and analysis, making timelines unpredictable. Applicants should maintain legal counsel, stay updated with news, keep renewing cards on time, and collect comprehensive documentation, especially for connections and means of substance requirements.
Portuguese Nationality Law: What Has Changed, and What ApplicaNTS Should Know.
Q: Which categories of residents are most affected by these changes?
Golden Visa and Expression of Interest applicants are most affected because their residency clocks started online, and the counting period now begins at card issuance. Other categories like D visa or family members are less affected since their processes typically complete faster, reducing impact.
Portuguese Nationality Law: What Has Changed, and What ApplicaNTS Should Know.
Q: To begin, can you provide an overview of the recent changes to Portugal's nationality law and explain why they have generated so much discussion?
The main changes involve the residency timeline for citizenship, shifting from a five-year minimum to seven years for CPLP and EU citizens and ten years for others; the counting of residency starting from the card issuance rather than the first government fee; new requirements to prove connections to Portugal; and the elimination of Sephardic citizenship paths, with new possibilities like great-grandparent connections for those who have lived in Portugal for five years.
Functional Mushrooms, Urban Farming and the Future of Wellness in Portugal.
Q: Why Portugal, and not the UK, for growing mushrooms?
They chose Portugal to leverage family proximity and a market gap in the Algarve, bringing their London-based knowledge home to build a localized, transparent supply chain.
