As a lay Christian I really value the insights that this podcast brings to my reading of the Bible, explaining context and painting a broad picture of daily life, religion, and culture. This helps inform the interpretive landscape and I appreciate how this enables me to handle the Bible in what I consider to be a more faithful way. This sort of material is hard to come by, especially for free, and I’m grateful for it.
Thank you for helping me understand Christianity in the context of the culture and other religions of the day.
This is not theology; it is critical scholarship applied to ancient Christianity. Highly recommended!
Great podcast for anyone interested in an historical prospective free from bias and any agenda other than getting at the historicity off Jesus. I’m an atheist but can’t get enough and have reconsidered some of my views on Jesus based on this thoughtful study. It’s pretty obvious he’s teaching a class, and the best is when he has to ADR a word or phrase in his dulcet Canadian tone. Great listen!
