Why Independent Podcasters Need More Than Downloads with Rebecca Dalby of Triton
Q: What's a key move you'd recommend for podcasters to grow smarter?
Adopt a holistic monetization strategy, treat content as a brand with multiple revenue streams (live shows, books, merch, clips), and ensure you're partnering with educated buyers and platforms that can help you reach and monetize your audience without alienating them.
Why Independent Podcasters Need More Than Downloads with Rebecca Dalby of Triton
Q: What's changing in how ads are bought at scale?
Large budgets are increasingly planned and often bought through always-on, package-based inventory rather than one-off deals; buyers want more sophisticated targeting, better attribution, and smoother workflows, while supply-side platforms optimize for yield through smarter pricing and broader demand.
Why Independent Podcasters Need More Than Downloads with Rebecca Dalby of Triton
Q: Rebecca, where's the money in podcasting?
The money comes from a layered mix of revenue streams—sponsorships, direct-to-creator sales, and programmatic advertising—plus partnerships with hosting and platform providers that help creators monetize at scale; success depends on educating buyers and publishers, testing effectively, and building long-term relationships.
Building Creator-Owned Media with Stella Young of Tiny Legends and This Is TV Now
Q: Where's the money in podcasting?
The money comes from building a parasocial audience and monetizing through memberships and direct support, such as Patreon, rather than relying solely on ads or corporate sponsorships.
Building a Sustainable and Successful Podcast Membership Model with Joe Fucigna
Q: What are you most excited about coming up within podcasting?
There is a surge in interest in memberships, with media companies and networks engaging in conversations and exploring end-to-end partnership opportunities, especially for under-the-radar creators who have strong communities.
