  • Say No To Valley Girl Vocal Fry

Please get Ella Markianos communications training. If I have to listen to her valley girl vocal fry each episode, I’m going to lose my mind. Her content is fine but the delivery needs to improve. If we had to to take a shot each time she says “you know” or “like” we would be dead in the first 60 seconds.

  • Wait, there is a podcast?

Platformer is great. I read Casey’s writing every week and always learn a lot. The only problem is there are so many other things to read so if I can save some time listening in the car to a podcast, that’s awesome. I just listened to the interview that was posted today and it’s excellent. Thanks!

  • Crucial tech news from an crucial source

I’ve been reading platformer for a while, and when I heard they had a podcast version, I left at the chance to subscribe. Every single time I read their articles I learn something important. Highly recommend.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

This AI notetaker won't sell surveillance to your boss
Q: So, when you guys got started, what led you to the ideas that would become Granola?
We stumbled onto large language models before ChatGPT and soon realized these could reinvent how we work and think. We aimed to build a contextually aware workspace and discovered the strongest user appeal was freeing people from manual note-taking while giving them notes that felt like the user's own voice.
He tried 200 to-do apps so you don't have to
Q: What AI tools actually save you time at work today?
David argues that the best time savings come from tools that replace mundane workflows (like transcription and organization) and from maintaining a single source of truth. He cautions against over-reliance on autonomous agents for critical tasks and emphasizes staying hands-on with core research to preserve understanding.
The case for making your own apps
Q: Walk me through that line from there to making Glaze, because it sort of feels like you went from many tools to one to now infinite tools.
Thomas explained the evolution from a multi-tool lifestyle to a platform approach that enables users to build highly personalized apps, with Glaze acting as the end-to-end creator that surfaces UI-rich apps while leveraging AI to simplify deployment and sharing.
Claude Code creator Boris Cherny on the end of the software engineer
Q: Can you tell us the origin story of Claude Code and how it started?
Boris describes building Claude Code as a tiny terminal prototype, initially a curiosity, which rapidly gained traction inside Anthropic and then among customers, driven by a need to understand and leverage the API to ship a real product.
Spotify takes on its doppelgänger problem
Q: What is Spotify's new feature and why does it matter for artists?
Spotify's Artist Profile Protection requires artists to actively review each release before it goes live, allowing them to approve or decline, which helps prevent impersonations and misattributed tracks from appearing on their profiles.
