很多毛爸媽都很關心毛孩的健康，但事實上大部分的人其實都還是等到毛孩不舒服、開始出現症狀的時候才會帶去看醫生。
不過，其實有很多疾病在真正發作之前，可能早就已經發出一些警訊了，像是喝水量變多、體重變輕或變重、睡眠習慣改變，甚至個性和平常行為跟以前不太一樣等等。

當毛孩身體不舒服時，沒辦法開口告訴我們哪裡怪怪的，很多時候只能看到牠們出現食慾降低、精神變差、嘔吐、拉血便，或是一直跑廁所卻尿不出來…等等症狀。
不過，雖然這些症狀很常見，但背後造成的原因卻可能完全不同。
例如，同樣是嘔吐，有時候可能只是腸胃不適，但也有可能是誤食異物造成腸阻塞；或是同樣是血尿，有些是膀胱發炎，有些卻可能是泌尿道結石，甚至其他泌尿系統的疾病。
如果只靠理學檢查或血檢，其實很難找出真正的病因。
