  • Goal setting/Mindset episodes

I love the clinical information that Jesse and Nicole provide, I’ve learned about a wide variety of topics this way! BUT the wrap up episodes of 2024 and opening episodes of 2025 have been some of my favorites. They’ve helped me work on getting clear in my professional vision and I appreciate how they also discuss other aspects of life being a priority too. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some direction and encouragement!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Great Kegel Debate (Part 3): With Michelle Lyons
Q: How should clinicians approach treatment given the variability in patients' pelvic health needs?
Clinicians should assess the whole person, consider hip, core, hormonal, and psychosocial factors, and use a bespoke, planful approach. They should start with a solid external assessment, then determine whether internal assessment is necessary, and employ a range of strategies rather than a one-size-fits-all regimen.
The Great Kegel Debate (Part 3): With Michelle Lyons
Q: What sparked Michelle Lyons's decision to push back against the trend of dismissing pelvic floor muscle training?
She was frustrated by a trend on social media that slams pelvic floor exercises and oversimplifies the field. She emphasizes that pelvic floor rehab is nuanced and should not be reduced to just Kegels or to a single exercise, and she advocates for evidence-based, individualized approaches.
The Courage of Little Leaps: An Interview with Kyle Hartman
Q: What does the labor prep course look like and how is it structured?
It's a simple two-hour seminar held quarterly with a small group and partners, focusing on practical tools, labor positions, perineal massage, and a postpartum reference guide.
The Courage of Little Leaps: An Interview with Kyle Hartman
Q: Can you just give me an overview of how you got into pelvic health, started Monterey Pelvic Health, and what that journey has been like?
Kyle describes a pivot from pediatrics into pelvic health sparked by a pelvic health class, leading to founding Monterey Pelvic Health during the pandemic with a careful, low-risk, stepwise approach that grew into a four-clinician practice.
What Trauma-Informed Care Really Means: An Interview with Krystyna Holland
Q: What are your two current projects in trauma-informed pelvic care?
The first project develops a tangible, guideline-style checklist for trauma-informed practices in pelvic health, created by a multidisciplinary group and validated against patient interviews. The second project involves mock patient interactions to test how training in these practices affects patient and provider experiences, with plans to publish and disseminate findings.
