  • Right to the science. Slight left bend as far as choice of what to report on but, it just reports facts. Appreciate having objectivity in a world fighting so hard against truth and facts.

  • One of the very few instances in which Kaku gets interviewed about a subject in which he has expertise. Of course, he just had to plagiarize Richard Feynman with his chess explanation. Hey! Credit were credit is due, buddy!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What science tells us about the health risks of Roundup
Q: What are the bases for the EPA's position on Roundup safety?
The EPA bases its conclusions on available evidence at the time, which is often provided by manufacturers; scientific conclusions can shift as new data emerge and papers are retracted due to ethical concerns, affecting regulatory assessments.
What science tells us about the health risks of Roundup
Q: What does the science tell us about the potential health risks of Roundup?
Glyphosate is linked to carcinogenicity and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, with agencies like IARC labeling it a probable human carcinogen based on a combination of animal, toxicology, and epidemiological data; the EPA's stance has been that safe use is possible, but the evidence base is evolving and sometimes contested.
Research shows weight-loss drugs may also reduce cancer risk
Q: Given current data, should cancer patients or survivors consider GLP-1s, and what caveats should guide that choice?
For survivors dealing with obesity, discussing GLP-1 use with an oncologist may be reasonable, but for those on active cancer treatment the interactions are unclear and caution is advised until more data emerge.
Research shows weight-loss drugs may also reduce cancer risk
Q: Big picture, what have those observational studies found about GLP-1s and cancer risk?
Observational data indicate that weight loss from GLP-1 therapies is associated with reduced risk of obesity-related cancers and potentially lower recurrence after cancer, though causality can't be established without controlled trials.
New proposal would give Trump officials more control over scientific research grants
Q: What do you make about the argument that the administration is simply choosing to stress certain research priorities and eliminate waste?
The guest argues that framing the changes as just prioritizing research goals ignores the deeper problem of appointing individuals without subject-matter expertise to decide scientific outcomes, which could lead to biased funding and a reluctance to fund important but politically sensitive areas.
