  • Awesome

I have listened to this broadcast for many years from Canada. Trump’s actions have now been found unconstitutional. He will not be in the White House forever and hopefully the midterms will right some of his reprehensible actions.

  • Israeli Propaganda

I can’t believe the propaganda coming from PBS. PBS is supporting a genocide. This must be the new Trump version of PBS. I can’t subscribe anymore

  • Great content, but why so many ads suddenly?

Re-upping my semi-annual complaint. This podcast has been my go to source for news for years - great content - but the drastic uptick in ads over the last few weeks is making me question my listenership. I wouldn’t mind an ad or two per day, but they seem to be on every story now, even the 2-minute ones!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Millions lose SNAP benefits as One Big Beautiful Bill's stricter requirements kick in
Q: How accurate is the argument that the decline in SNAP enrollments reflects a healthier economy?
Experts argue that while the economy has improved in some metrics, the decline is largely driven by stricter eligibility rules and administrative hurdles that prevent eligible people from maintaining benefits, not by a robust economic recovery.
Former election official fact-checks Trump's claims of election fraud in California
Q: What do you say to skeptics about the chances of fraud from mail-in ballots?
She explains that voter eligibility is verified at multiple points, signatures are checked with context beyond exact replication, and the system includes robust security measures that focus on authenticating the voter's intent rather than allowing fraud to change outcomes.
What Iran and Israel's escalation means for efforts to end regional conflict
Q: So Miad, Iran, as David has said, has now upped the ante. How would you describe the status of the ceasefire? What does this mean for the future of any peace talks?
The status is that the ceasefire is fragile and heavily dependent on Iran's willingness to curb escalation and to trade concessions for sanctions relief and diplomatic concessions, with the US and regional actors pressing for de-escalation and a return to talks, while acknowledging that Iranian leverage has grown due to the new proxy role and the internal pressures facing Iran.
Why hiring surged in May despite economic strain from the Iran war
Q: How big a deal is this?
The guest explains that the hiring surge is driven by robust service-sector demand, wage dynamics favoring higher earners, and persistent underemployment pressures, which together create a more resilient labor market than many expected.
How renaming PCOS to PMOS could improve care for millions of women
Q: Does this change reflect a new understanding of the disorder, or was polycystic ovarian syndrome always a misnomer?
Dr. Cree explains the misnomer aspect and how the name PMOS broadens the clinical focus to include metabolic and endocrine factors beyond the ovaries.
