  • Moral Superiority

I look forward to listening every Friday evening to this segment. But, the host’s comments on Friday, May 9 about Republicans not living the message of The Gospels was quite disturbing. I do have faith & hope that the election of Pope Leo can become a great source of healing in our country and bring both sides closer together in dialogue. The host’s opening comment is an unfortunate source of division in our country along with the same type of inflammatory rhetoric that we hear from some conser... more

  • Please replace Capehart / rotate panel

The Newshour itself is pretty reliably good quality - but ever since Capehart replaced Shields, this segment has been nothing short of painful

He doesn't seem to think about what he's saying before his mouth opens, resulting in constant word salad

There were multiple people (including women!) who filled the leftist spot before Capehart got it

Please please at least ROTATE the panel, if not replace Capehart outright

This segment has gone so far downhill that it's below sea level compared... more

  • Good grief!

This usually worthwhile pod allowed a really embarrassing thing to be said last week. The National Environmental Policy. Act, a landmark but often bureaucratically oppressive law, is called “knee-pah” by the 100s of thousands - if not millions - of people who participate in it. A long “E”. The PBS team referred to it as “neh-pah”, a short “E”, demonstrating that the team actually knew nothing about the Act. Every Federal decision is subject to NEPA unless it’s among the specific classes act... more

It's symptomatic of how information and honesty are being distorted in the administration.
Brooks and Capehart on the Epstein files fracturing Trump’s base
Q: What does fighting back really mean in practice, Jonathan?
When you fight, you're going to piss somebody off. You need to fight and give voice to the fear and anger out there, not just among Democrats but all Americans.
Brooks and Capehart on Trump’s tariffs and reaction from the markets
Q: What should be done about the president encouraging people to buy into the market as it was plunging?
Yes, it should be investigated as it seems to engender corruption, but it likely won't be due to party dynamics in Congress.
Brooks and Capehart on Trump’s tariffs and reaction from the markets
Q: Do you see a strategy here, or do you see a president who saw markets plunging on his policies and blinked?
There is no strategy here. The president blinked primarily because of the bond markets and the negative implications of a plunging stock market.
