This podcast is a series of conversations.
What started as a series of intimate conversations between Ruth and David that ranged from personal to professional experiences around violence, relationships, abuse, and system and professional responses which harm, not help, has now become a global conversation about systems and culture change. In many episodes, David and Ruth are joined by a global l... more

Listening to your podcast made me realize that there was nothing more I could’ve done. I frequently reflect on the abuse, time that I left, the divorce, and the post separation abuse I continue to endure and think about what I could have done differently. I didn’t do it wrong. There was just nothing more I could do. One day my kids will be grown and I will finally be out of this and I hope they’ll be something that I can do to make it better somehow for others. When you have kids you never re... more
For those working in the FDSV Sector this podcast is a wonderful addition to self directed learning in the area of MBC, family safety intervention and prevention strategies. Plus some quality topics to reflect on such as how we as agents in a patriarchal system respond to the “angry survivor”.
If one single episode stands out, it’s the 14 year old boy, especially when he talks about how child protection failed this family and why. I’m a child protection social worker and I’ve asked for it to be added to the casework practice resources.
This is the best podcast series on domestic violence/abuse and coercive control that I’ve found.
It is not only validating, but informative, thought provoking and challenging.
There is so much amazing work being done around the world, but this is my single recommendation to anyone and everyone.
Thank you!
Discussions happening by the professional services that are talking realities and not giving excuses for the downfalls. Domestic abuse is not the victims fault and we shouldn’t be ashamed to say that we have had to experience that.
