I never knew the story, however I found the journalists’ constant questioning of whether Mr. Proctor had gained any insight into himself; he is obviously a man who had to deny his own inner feelings since he was a young man and not to be introspective, and you expect him after trauma, which causes further shutdown of the self, to miraculously gain introspection.
