Excellent episode boys. Thanks for introducing these amazing documentaries to us. I just watched all 3. I gotta say the first 2 had me feeling a little down but episode 3 brought me back to feeling positive. And the footage was incredible. I can’t believe they actually discovered sculpin! And the trout porn was amazing 😂

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 211:How Much Does Bluefin Tuna Fishing REALLY Cost in Canada?
Q: Larry wanted to know the cost of doing a tuna trip and advice on how to approach planning.
The hosts explained that typical full-day charters in the Maritimes run roughly 1,600 to 2,300 per day, which can be cost-effective when shared among 4–6 people. They emphasized that costs include the boat, crew, fuel, and sometimes bait; some charters also require licenses or have separate commercial options. They advised considering the entire trip—getting there, accommodations, meals—in addition to the fishing portion, and noted that most people book 1–2 years in advance due to limited licenses and the narrow seasonal window.
Episode 212: How Jay Siemens Built One of the Biggest Fishing Channels on YouTube
Q: How do you balance chasing outdoor adventures with building a career and family life?
Jay explains there is no universal answer; it depends on personal comfort and family dynamics, but prioritizing family when possible while planning shoots and accepting tradeoffs is key.
Episode 208: What You DON’T See on Fishing TV | Season 40, Poachers & Behind-the-Scenes
Q: How many fish do you guys catch that don't appear on an episode?
They explain that they catch a lot more fish than shown, as a variety of factors affect what makes it to the final cut.
Episode 207: Ontario’s Minister of Natural Resources Answers Anglers’ Biggest Questions
Q: What are the new regulations for recreational vessels?
The new regulations have changes taking place on December 31st, 2025, including a $24 service fee for pleasure craft licenses and a requirement for wind-powered craft longer than six meters to hold a license starting on December 1st, 2027.
Episode 206: Bob Izumi on 40 Years of Fishing TV, Tournament Evolution, and Life After The Real Fishing Show
Q: If neither of you had ever ended up on the fishing catcher, what do you honestly think you would be doing today?
Bob Izumi reflects that he probably would still be working at the factory job he had before becoming a fishing show host, as his path into the industry came unexpectedly after being laid off.
