….sums up the world of contemporary music, a natural expression of the human condition. This could go on indefinitely, especially if the show looks to the past, when things were radical and incipient. Host should practice these as an articulation and accuracy lesson: championing. Wien.(study up in advance of recording) Elocution is part of intellect and expression which can have such positive effect on the listener/student. Kudos, though, all around.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

41. Composers Inside Electronics on David Tudor
Q: How faithful should performances be to the original instruments when recreating Tudor's repertoire, especially as technology evolves?
The accuracy comes from understanding the instruments themselves, not merely replicating a sound. Builders must study the electronics and the physical circuits to recreate the behavior and hinge points, while also allowing for necessary adaptations to accommodate new spaces and setups, ensuring the work remains true to its intrinsic mechanisms.
41. Composers Inside Electronics on David Tudor
Q: What kind of direction did you get from Tudor in order to perform these pieces? Are there all these wonderful charts that I've seen, and are you getting any instruction from him?
There was little explicit instruction; the guidance was practical and practical-instructional, with emphasis on where the best restaurants were and an emphasis on exploring the spaces and the pieces rather than following a strict score. The diagrams and Rainforest were developed later, and performers were encouraged to interpret and realize the work in their own way while staying faithful to the instrument-based realities Tudor designed.
37. Nancy Karp, Choreographing in Silence
Q: What influence did being in Venice have on your work?
It inspired a piece that reflects the gentle qualities of the environment, in contrast to the harshness of the world.
37. Nancy Karp, Choreographing in Silence
Q: So what is that collaborative process like?
It's my favorite way of working, and each piece is different with each composer.
38. Pamela Z, More or less at the same time
Q: Could you talk about the relationship between these different versions of Simultaneous?
The relationship between different versions involves adapting her original sound installation for performance, incorporating elements from her radio piece for Deutschland Radio, and blending them into live performances with an ensemble.
