I enjoy the work PF/QF does, but what’s with constantly blowing up areas? Their most recent was titled “the hidden upland opportunities of Wyoming”. Well, it won’t be hidden long. What happened to the days of going out and exploring on your own, putting boots on the ground? Every other episode of one the wing/the flush seems to be encouraging people to go hunt already crowded areas. Enough with it!
John Zeman is the real deal. Minnesota bird dog owners should try to get to his Wednesday training sessions or at least watch his videos, they are something special!
This episode really hit home. As someone who hunts public land in Nebraska, I can 100% relate to the struggle they talk about. I’m based out of Omaha, and like a lot of public-land guys, I’ll pick spots loaded with Open Fields and Waters and CRP on the map, only to show up and realize the cover looks like a pool table — lifeless, over-grazed, and poorly managed.
I’ve had plenty of days where I’ll drive 3+ hours, hop between 15–20 different spots, and maybe two of them are actually huntable, som... more
I love the podcast and there are so many great episodes, but the discussion and sharing crippling loss numbers is probably my all time favorite
How is it even possible for a podcast supposedly focused on conservation and helping the resource going to put out an episode title “Indiana on the Rise”?!? Should’ve just named it “we are hot spotting hypocrites.”
I don’t even understand how that’s a choice when planning your content. Unacceptable. The episode should be taken down and QF should send an apology for everyone that lives in and hunts in Indiana.

The show centers on upland hunting, habitat conservation, and the people behind conservation nonprofits, industry partners, and hunting culture. Episodes span conversations with musicians tied to hunting lore, winemakers collaborating on game recipes, and field-focused discussions with biologists, state coordinators, and agency partners. Recurring themes include on-the-ground habitat work, public lands access, hatch-week biology, dog training, and the role of sponsorships in conservation efforts.
