  • Not a woodworking podcast?

A LinkedIn user’s idea of what woodworking is? I tried a few episodes, but all they do is casually talk about YouTube content creation and whether or not they can do a version of someone else’s video but market it more effectively. Seriously, why does this exist?

  • Meh

Gave it a shot. Listened to 5 episodes but Spencer is just too annoying. Zack gained a new follower on YouTube though. Definitely not in the same stratosphere as Shop Sounds.

  • Soothes baby

I was listening to the OTHER podcast and my 5 month old baby would not stop crying. The episode ended and the latest Off the Cut came on. Lo and behold, baby stopped crying. Yeah Buddy.

  • DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE TITLE

This is NOT a podcast about how to prepare choice meats. That’s my mistake. Still, it’s pretty good!

  • Fantastic Podcast, lots of fun

Great podcast, lots of fun and always a laugh. Three guys talking about all things making, woodworking, content creation and much more. Good information and way better than the Green Suiters Podcast(also availible here, check it out next). Mark my words, this will be the biggest podcast in history! Check out the aftershow too, lots more and a lot more fun!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The One Where They Talk Shop With Bill Burkel
Q: Is there any benefit to air drying wood compared to kiln drying?
Air dried walnut is often preferred for its color, though I find kiln dried walnut has a warmer appearance that I prefer.
The One Where They Talk Shop With Bill Burkel
Q: Is there any relationship between the density of the wood? Do harder woods take longer or is it just species dependent?
We primarily do oak, walnut, and maple, and while density affects the process, it's mostly species-dependent.
The One Where They Talk Shop With Bill Burkel
Q: What were you doing before WTB and what made you want to pivot and start your own business like this?
I had a glass and glazing company, which is now becoming my side gig, while WTB is turning into my full-time job.
The One Where They Get Cantankerous (Episode 179)
Q: How do you know you need a new roof?
You should periodically check your attic for stains, signs of damage on the shingles, and ensure proper ventilation.
The One Where They Swab The Troughs (Ep 174)
Q: Do you feel like that was them saying like, hmm, yeah, maybe we pushed you a little harder than we should have?
Deric feels it was them acknowledging that they pushed too hard.
