My favourite podcast, that they simply don’t make enough of. The Void ( host ) and Skirwingle ( co-host ) are mines of information on etymology/ history. If you’re a crossword fan then give it a listen … but it’s even worth a listen if you’re not a crossword buff. There are always a few gems of knowledge you’ll want to try to impress people with.

One of my favourite podcasts. The format works really well - it starts with a cryptic crossword selected from one of the national dailies, but that’s just a launchpad for some fun trivia-based chitchat inspired by three favourite clues and three talking points from the crossword. Void, Dave and The General always seem to find plenty of interesting things to discuss, and they do so in a very engaging and entertaining way. Perfect for fans of weird and wacky trivia, puzzles, and free association. And the best part is you don’t need to know a thing about crosswords — it’s just as fun whether you’re a season veteran or a puzzlephobe. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
