Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

209 Odyssey House Journals - Jareth Williams
Q: What finally helped you turn your life around and choose recovery?
A combination of realizing the destruction addiction caused in my life, the support of my brother, and a decisive moment when I turned myself into the psych ward in January 2018. Since then, I built a life focused on helping others through Odyssey House, staying connected to family, and prioritizing sobriety and responsibility, especially as a father.
209 Odyssey House Journals - Jareth Williams
Q: Can you tell us about your past before you became who you are today?
I grew up with an unstable father figure after my dad left, which left me searching for guidance. I started using meth at eleven, then progressed through long periods of addiction, dealing with a cycle of pain, abandonment, and seeking escape in drugs. The journey included living on my own at 15, multiple school disruptions, and escalating drug use before a major turning point led me to sobriety and a career helping others.
206 Odyssey House Journals - Noella Sudbury
Q: How much does it cost to use the RASA service and check your record?
You visit the website; the tool shows you everything after you enter your name and birth date, tells you what's eligible for expungement, and connects you with a lawyer if you qualify, with an affordable cost around $250 per case for the legal work.
203 Odyssey House Journals - Tessa Baysinger
Q: Can you describe the recovery-focused approach of your staff and how that influences patient trust and outcomes?
The team is passionate about serving the community, emphasizes no judgment, and includes staff at various stages of recovery to model hope, provide relatable support, and guide patients toward appropriate treatment paths.
203 Odyssey House Journals - Tessa Baysinger
Q: What makes Martindale accessible for people who are financially constrained or uninsured?
Medicaid is the primary funder, with grant options and sliding-scale fees to ensure financial barriers don't prevent care, and staff actively helps patients navigate funding and coverage.
