  • Incredible insight to nutrition and health

I love this podcast! The episode on diabetes was especially meaningful for me, as I have a son with type 1. The information was clear, well-researched, and very helpful. Even the episodes that aren't directly relevant to my life have been surprisingly interesting. The host does a great job at making complex nutrition facts easy to understand. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn more about their health!

Q: What are the main nutritional challenges faced by shift workers?
Limited access to food options, especially when stores or canteens aren't open, leading to poorer diet quality, lower fruit/vegetable intake, and a reliance on convenient, often less healthy options.

Q: How prevalent is shift work in Australia, and what kinds of patterns do these workers have?
Around 10 percent of the population, or about a million people, engage in shift work, with patterns including 10- to 12-hour shifts, fly-in/fly-out arrangements, and rotating schedules that can disrupt regular meal times.

Q: What about the idea of making Health Stars mandatory?
There is political will toward mandating labeling, but the process is complex; a mandatory regime would require legislation and a longer transition period for industry to adapt.
