  • Encouraging so far

Thank god NPR is doing this. Just listed to the Dana White interview. While many questions were framed as uncharitably as possible, I nevertheless got the sense that NPR might actually care about how Americans they despise actually think. Here’s hoping!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Democrat Ro Khanna’s 2028 pitch: tax the rich, regulate tech
Q: How would you restructure the economy to help de-industrialized communities and ensure a manufacturing renaissance?
He proposes an American New Deal: an industrial investment bank, targeted industrial policy for de-industrialized regions, a federal jobs program, investment in trade schools and tech institutes, and partnerships with private sector and faith and community leaders to mobilize resources.
MAGA-linked pastor Doug Wilson’s plan for a Christian theocracy
Q: What would a Christian theocracy look like in the United States?
A constitutionally shaped framework would remain, but key social laws would change—outlawing abortion, overturning same-sex marriage, and reducing protections for LGBTQ+ people, with civil life guided by Christian principles and church-involved governance rather than a strictly secular state.
Bill Maher on comedy, atheism and dining with Trump
Q: What did you think about Bill Maher's dinner with President Trump, and what did that reveal to you about his character?
Maher argues that meeting and speaking to people you disagree with can reveal more about the other person's humanity and self-awareness than public rhetoric, and he appreciates that Trump can show a different side in private.
Can Maine Senate hopeful Platner survive another controversy?
Q: Has your party changed towards you since you emerged as a candidate?
He suggests there is skepticism from the old guard, but his focus remains on building a new kind of party grounded in labor and grassroots organizing, rather than traditional fundraising and establishment control.
Can Maine Senate hopeful Platner survive another controversy?
Q: What makes you qualified to be the senator for Maine?
Platner argues his military service, small business experience, and direct work with labor and community groups give him practical insight into policy, particularly on veterans' issues, healthcare, and how policy affects working people, rather than relying on Washington-established politics.
