  • Once again, politics ruin it

I like Danny and respect his takes and general professionalism. The other two clowns on this show are ruining his brand with their political takes and outright support of murderers and anarchists. Time to unsubscribe again. Have fun with your Luigi show, I guess.

Danny, salvage this before it’s too late. You’ve worked too hard for these people you allow on your show to destroy it all.

  • Perfect

Excellent podcast covering old and new games; AAA indie and the obscure. This is my go to podcast for gaming. Love how the 4 bring lads bring a different vibe to the table every week. Keep it up!

  • Good pod

They do a genuinely great job spotlighting lesser-known games. Jesse really needs to cut back on the glib/smug cynicism and Frank needs to breathe.

  • Danny is 100% wrong about AI voice “acting”

Great show. But Danny, you are 100% wrong in your position regarding AI voice “acting”. Is it cheaper and easier to use AI? Sure. But we can say that about every human creative endeavor. (Including video shooting, production, and editing, btw.) Stop being an apologist for late-stage capitalism. AI slop is garbage and is burning the planet.

  • Great videogame talk

Great podcast. This is four guys talking about videogames. One is Danny O’Dwyer of videogame documentary fame. I have been following his trajectory for years and I love his work. The second one is a regular canadian guy. The third is a guy that did too many drugs at some point and now could find Schoppenhauer and Nietszche influences in SuperBreakout. And the last one is a cringe otaku guy secretly in search of his anime dominatrix waifu, which makes sense because he sounds like a cartoon charac... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

PRAGMATA, Samson, Dosa Divas Interview
Q: How important was the demo to defining the game's scope, scale, and village design?
The demo functioned as a critical tool to validate mechanics, camera work, art style, and progression flow; it helped set the scope for three main villages and guided decisions on spaces, characters, and the amount of content.
PRAGMATA, Samson, Dosa Divas Interview
Q: What was the original concept for Dosa Divas and how did it evolve from Thirsty Suitors?
The core idea stayed around family dynamics and storytelling through a cooking-meets-battle mechanic, but the combat system was expanded to be more expressive and squad-based, drawing from RPGs while keeping flavor as the central theme.
Lucid Blocks, Funi Raccoon Game, Nintendo Museum
Q: What new Japanese phrases or slang did you pick up on the trip?
The most notable phrases were Kansai dialect terms like Aho and Baka, with Aho being milder and Baka more offensive in Osaka; also learning Sakoshi Honga as a phrase for acknowledging limited language ability.
Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, Esoteric Ebb, ABIDE Interview
Q: What are the main ambitions for Abide, and how does the team plan to balance horror with accessibility?
The developers describe Abide as an intimate first-person horror experience that leans into psychological terror, with an emphasis on character-driven therapy scenarios, multiple endings, and a design philosophy that prioritizes player consequence and atmosphere over mere shock value.
Cape Hideous, Tower Wizard, Stardom Card Party
Q: Do you play any tabletop RPGs or board games?
No, I've always wanted to but could never find the right group to play with.
