  • If This Doesn’t Work, Then….

Jake Kastleman’s podcast may help you get out of a porn addiction. If so, great! But it didn’t work for me.

I listened to this podcast for a solid 6 months in 2024. Took notes. I tried to turn the ideas into a recovery plan. I would inevitably relapse. This didn’t work for me. What did work for me was the Beyond Compulsion Academy. I wish somebody had of told me about the BCA earlier. So, if this podcast doesn’t work, look up Beyond Compulsion Academy. It likely will.

  • A firehose of hope and victory

From the moment any episode begins we are provided a sense that victory is in our future! Jake amazingly doesn’t confuse poetry with practical steps. Instead he beautifully communicates solid, moving, reverent help. I am victorious over lust, and repeatedly return to this show like an athlete returns to his Gatorade cooler on a hot day.

156: How Neurodivergence Shaped My Porn Addiction—and Eventually Became a Strength | Exploring Perfectionism, Emotional Overwhelm, and Why Sensitive, Driven Men Turn to Escape
Q: What are one or two moments that shaped who you are today and when did you first start to see yourself more clearly?
He describes transforming from an overwhelmed, perfectionistic child into someone who channels intense feelings into systems, routines, and purposeful work, aided by spiritual experiences and a family context that highlighted the need to manage neurodivergent traits rather than suppress them.
157: Why Father Wounds Can Fuel Porn Addiction: The Emotional Story Behind Sexual Cravings (with Chris Bruno)
Q: What are small, practical steps men can take to cultivate true brotherhood beyond accountability?
Start by sharing personal stories at a comfortable pace, using prompts (like reflecting on life events with a bottle of Scotch as a cue) to move from surface-level discussions to deeper revelations, and progressively build trust so friends can contend for each other's best selves.
157: Why Father Wounds Can Fuel Porn Addiction: The Emotional Story Behind Sexual Cravings (with Chris Bruno)
Q: What would you say to guys who want to start exploring their story and origins of their addiction?
They should begin with mapping their life timeline from childhood to adulthood, identifying high and low moments, and then digging into what beliefs, messages, and losses were formed; this helps uncover the first and second stories and the survival patterns driving their behavior.
157: Why Father Wounds Can Fuel Porn Addiction: The Emotional Story Behind Sexual Cravings (with Chris Bruno)
Q: So, what are these counterfeit initiations that we fill with, and what do we miss about real rites of passage?
Chris explains that authentic rites of passage involve intentional fatherly guidance, testing, and inclusion into a community of men, rather than superficial or brutal ceremonies; they provide a framework for proving one's readiness and belonging, while avoiding harmful extremes.
151: Why So Many Men Struggle to Love, Connect, and Feel Their Emotions | The Hidden Roots of Addiction and Relationship Pain (With Dr. Eddie Capparucci)
