從以色列民第一次集體崇拜和天父第一次召喚以色列民朝見祂的記載可以發現，敬拜的核心，是敬拜者對上帝那股感恩，尊崇與敬畏的心。
而自潔，讓心靈、身體和外表都保持潔淨，不讓自己沈浸在慾望中，甘願遵行所定的規矩，正是敬畏之情具體的表現。

教牧是魚，會眾是水。魚可以令水變得靈動而有生氣，離開了水就再沒有生存的空間。
同樣，假若教牧脫離牧養的群體，那縱然有多大的知識與智慧，都只會變成在象牙塔內閉門造車一樣，建立不到牧養關係，也發揮不了教牧事奉最重要的意義。
