The subtleties of narcissism are very powerful looking back on a 20 year marriage I now see that the undermining started before the marriage (you can’t speak properly, you’re a rough northern girl, you shouldn’t go running, you’re very messy, you don’t have real friends) other personality traits were often enhanced so I couldn’t pick holes in his behaviour, often lavish presents out of the blue when we were struggling for money.
