從小身為長女的阿娥姐，在成長環境的教育下，讓她覺得自己必須堅強、負責，需要第一線承擔大家的情緒，於是養成了一種總是體貼又為他人著想的好性格。
然而當母親重病、女兒罹患血癌、妹妹突然中風種種的變故排山倒海而來，即便再怎麼負責任又堅強的性格，也曾歇斯底里的大吼「為什麼是我」，就跟她說的一樣，面對突如其來的照顧責任時，沒有一個人的情緒是能被穩住的。

秀慧姐從診所退休過後投身居家照顧服務也已經五年了，居服員的工作每天在不同案件中奔波，有時候餵失智的阿公吃午餐，有時候陪著病患搭著公車去洗腎......在喘息服務第一線的他們往往也看見許許多多的人情冷暖，更甚是作為家屬與案主之間相互連結的橋樑。

錄音的當下剛好是小楊任職護理師工作的一週年，在腫瘤內科病房時，幾乎是每天都在面對著生離死別，問她調適得如何？她口中盡是感謝，感謝許多前輩的引領與提點，「當你自己不是以絕望的目標去照護的時候，你就不會覺得看不到盡頭」小楊這麼說。
