Charting The Rise Of A Multipolar World Order Philip Pilkington is an unorthodox macroeconomist. Andrew Collingwood is an equally skeptical journalist. Lately, both have realised that - post-Ukraine, post-Afghanistan withdrawal - the old, unipolar, US-led world order is in its death throes. In its wake, something new is being born. But what shape will that take? That will depend on a combustible c... more

  • Wanted to like this but the analysis comes across as quite naive on the whole and half-baked

Regardless of the topic, this podcast seems to push repetitive variations of similar geopolitical pet theories, which are rarely rigorous or measurably empirical. They can be interesting, but only in the way any story can be interesting if novel and well-told.

Additionally, too often (but not always) the hosts are far more assiduous in their application of scepticism to open Western societies than they are to their closed peers, whose “facts” are too readily accepted at face value.

  • Out of his depth

Philip has no credibility to speak about the effectiveness or prudence of military operations, tactics, or strategy. He’s a macroeconomist and PRC proponent - not a political, and certainly not a security analyst. Stick to macroeconomics and investment, and be an analyst. Not a China cheerleader.

  • Supposed "Experts"

Nothing wrong with talking heads pods, but this is your run-of-the-mill contrarian take with 2 hacks - think right-leaning-Yglesias types but with much dumber participants. They'll make ridiculous claims with zero backup chest beating their 'zany' takes the entire time. But definitely not worth your time.
