  • Giving Thanks

I am thankful Cass and Kathryn are willing to share their deeply personal story so that others may find the same healing they have found. I appreciate their blunt honesty. As I have listened to the podcasts, I have realized the things that I have heard that have gotten under my skin have only done so because they are true and I just don’t like it. Thanks Cass and Kathryn for not sugar coating the truth.

  • Cass still seems very dismissive of Kathryn

They seem dangerous for specifically other women in abusive relationships to imply the abuser can be fixed. Nothing about the way he talks convinces me that behind the scenes he’s truly a better person now.

Guilt After an Affair | How to Stop the Spiral and Change for Real | Marriage Q&A | Ep424
Q: My question is, I'm trying to work on my trust issues.
The hosts guide the caller to stop reframing the affair and to own the language around the act, acknowledge guilt and shame without letting them define the person, and begin taking concrete steps to rebuild trust through open storytelling and long-term connection work.
He Got Physical | How To Move Forward After Physical Abuse | Marriage Q&A | Ep425
Q: What was happening during this assault and how can we determine whether it's situational or a pattern?
We discussed that there are two types of domestic violence, and if this isn't characteristic, it could be situational. The focus is on understanding triggers, context, and whether there's ongoing risk, not blaming the victim.
The Abuse Is Hard To Ignore — So What Do You Do? | Marriage Q&A | Ep423
Q: What should I do if there is safety risk in the relationship?
They acknowledge the need for safety first, advise leaving or seeking professional domestic violence support when physical harm is present, and clarify they are not DV specialists.
The Abuse Is Hard To Ignore — So What Do You Do? | Marriage Q&A | Ep423
Q: What can I do different? What about misunderstanding? Why am I offering this? Why am I enabling this behavior?
The hosts emphasize shifting from victimhood to personal responsibility, focusing on what actions one can take to move toward safety, self-respect, and healthier boundaries rather than excusing abusive behavior.
My Husband Has Been Having Emotional Affairs Our Entire Marriage | Marriage Q&A | Ep421
Q: Why is the emotional affair considered a symptom, and how can she influence change in her husband?
They explain that the affair is a symptom of deeper issues like self-worth and validation needs, and advise the wife to focus on personal growth, edification, and modeling the partner she wants to have—while using supportive tools (like songs or programs) to inspire change rather than trying to control him directly.
