  • Faith and giving

Comes voluntarily not through lies, receipt and enforcement through the same methods, including forcing people to live on the street. That does not demonstrate faith, what it demonstrates is religion.

The Hidden Asset in Your Retirement Plan with Harlan Accola
Q: What does it mean to treat home equity as part of the retirement plan, instead of leaving it as an illiquid asset?
It means actively modeling home equity like any other financial resource, using it to delay withdrawals or optimize tax outcomes, and presenting a clear picture of how it affects the overall plan and long-term care funding.
Finding Freedom by Defining Enough
Q: Is it mathematically advantageous to take Social Security at 62 and invest the proceeds, or wait for a higher guaranteed benefit?
Waiting generally wins because Social Security grows about 8% per year guaranteed, and investing early requires consistently higher after-tax returns and risk tolerance; life expectancy and income needs also influence the decision.
Responding to Lebanon’s Humanitarian Emergency with May-Lee Melki
Q: How does the team operate on the ground given the risks and displacement of staff themselves?
Locally led and directly implementing, the staff endure the crises alongside the families, delivering aid, visiting homes, and maintaining relationships to earn trust and share the gospel.
Responding to Lebanon’s Humanitarian Emergency with May-Lee Melki
Q: May-Lee, help us understand what Heart for Lebanon is specifically focused on in this season.
Heart for Lebanon is expanding to care for 2,000 newly displaced families beyond the thousands already in care, providing ongoing food, bedding, hygiene supplies, and relational care, with a long-term commitment rather than one-time aid.
Revisiting the “4% Rule” with Mark Biller
Q: How much can I safely withdraw from my savings?
Originally, about 4.15% with inflation adjustments was found to sustain a 30-year retirement for all portfolios in the study, but this isn't a universal optimal rate; it's a safety floor. The team now emphasizes a more flexible approach, with considerations of lifestyle, income sources, and ongoing market conditions to tailor withdrawals.
