  • Faith and giving

Comes voluntarily not through lies, receipt and enforcement through the same methods, including forcing people to live on the street. That does not demonstrate faith, what it demonstrates is religion.

Our Ultimate Treasure: Work as Worship
Q: A question on life insurance. Do I need it at age 70 with limited income and near retirement?
Assess whether there is a real need based on income replacement, debt protection, and dependents; term insurance at 70 is expensive and may not pay off if you outlive the term. Focus on replacing income via Social Security and maintaining a cash buffer; consider final expense planning rather than costly insurance.
Saving on Purpose
Q: What should I consider when deciding whether to take the federal job given the big pay cut?
Evaluate both the immediate cash flow and the long-term security, including the FERS pension, healthcare eligibility, and the 5% TSP match, then model how long you would need to work to vest and compare it to the potential lifestyle and retirement implications, using a realistic budget to see if the long-term benefits outweigh the short-term salary drop.
Corporate Charitable Gift Matching with Will Lofland
Q: What is the strategy for a caller with retirement accounts considering withdrawals?
Prefer staying invested with a moderate allocation (60-40 or 50-50), maintain low costs, and limit withdrawal rates to preserve principal, while planning for inflation protection and potential long-term care expenses.
Corporate Charitable Gift Matching with Will Lofland
Q: How can ministries engage with companies to unlock gift matching?
Engage directly with company leadership with a clear, collaborative approach, explain ministry impact, and demonstrate how matching benefits employees and the faith-based community, as exemplified by Boeing's policy change.
Corporate Charitable Gift Matching with Will Lofland
Q: What are the main barriers religious organizations face with gift matching programs?
Religious ministries often are disqualified by company policies and lists of ineligible organizations, as well as bureaucratic hurdles and outdated rules that make it difficult to qualify for matched gifts.
